Overpass Rama 9 Road bridge is a steel I-girder system bridge that has a typical span of 25 m long and is placed on a steel cross beam. When in service, there is noticeable vibration that causes by the moving vehicle. Therefore, a Load test is needed to design a reinforcement that can reduce vibration and also endure an Earthquake according to DPT 1302-62 standard

After load testing, 3 reinforcement method is applied

  1. Increases I-Girder stiffness by adding a steel plate at the bottom flange

  2. Increases Column stiffness by pouring High Modulus Concrete (HMC) into a column to make it act as a composite section

  3. Increase Cross beam stiffness by pouring High Modulus Concrete (HMC) into a crossbeam to make it act as a composite section

By modeling and analyzing Overpass Rama 9 Road bridge under Truckload with non-linear time history analysis, it found that Overpass Rama 9 Road bridge has significantly better performance with new reinforcement.
